My point was that having such programs provide ease of irresponsibility. Granted, you'd think that the government wouldn't allow a drug addicted mother to have custody over a drug free father, but that's our 'wonderful' system. So, did it HELP anyone be responsible? No. It helped the person receiving the money to reason with themselves in favor of being irresponsible. Remember: the lord helps those that help themselves. This is Israel we're talking about. (BTW: I'm agnostic, but I know that scriptures are helpful for many faithful to understand very reasonable morality issues).
